Our school

Alligator Creek State School was opened on 14 September, 1896. Thirteen children were enrolled on the first day. A further thirteen children were enrolled before the end of the year. The first teacher at the school was Mr J. H. Landells. The original building was replaced in 1968 by the existing double-storey building.

The traditional owners are the Yuibera Tribe.

Our rural co-educational school currently caters for students from prep year through to year 6. We have 13 classes with an enrolment usually of about 315. Our staff takes pride in our school and its place in the community.

Our teachers take on roles outside of their classroom duties to offer other curricular and extra-curricular activities to students. Teaching and non-teaching staff are formally involved in activities to develop their knowledge and skills applicable to their position. These activities are a combination of systemic requirements, school priorities or individual interest, to enhance school operations or whole-of-school approaches.
